What a red letter day! After a wonderful morning start at the beach, dipping my toes in the surf and french toast at my favourite venice beach haunt, The Fig Tree, it was down to business. I signed my contract for directing Not Only Angels Fly! With my fee and profit share I hope it will be my first million pound deal. Go Risaria go! On signing the contract we celebrated with pina colada and a good old fashioned American cheeseburger and fries, Elvis would be proud! When in Memphis..well LA is close enough. Met more distributors, buyers and sales agents! My minds whizzing with all the information. Still blown away by how kind and generous everyone is with their time and advice. Even met a great guy who is originally from Wigan but now lives in LA. He gave me some great advice about the business. Thrilled to also meet my new composer Matt who has great ideas on the films score, and he's hoping to come to Cannes Film Festival too! I like his passion, enthusiasm and sheer ambition! A great fit for The Kindness of Strangers. Met with a big player in the movie finance industry. He's recomended a top flight lawyer friend. He was thrilled with the news of the movie and very protective over me making deals so he's helping advising me. He also he expained anytime I want $20 million or above, with the right things in place it's just a phone call! And just when life couldn't get any more surreal we meet Clement Von Franckenstein....I swear I'm not making it up...Clement is a great actor, and what an amazing character! His family are actually related to the orginal Franckenstein who Shelley named her character after. Yes, I swear I've only had two cocktails! More meetings loom, but first a rest, it's only 8.30am LA time but it's 4.30 English time, still can;t get used to Amercian time even if I'm loving the US weather and food.
